Featured Female Leader: Rachael Hinch – Certified Audi Technician

“Working in the automotive industry is very challenging but very rewarding. Your hard work will always pay off in one way or another.”

Rachael Hinch has worked in the automotive industry for 6 years. For the past 8 months, Rachael has worked as a certified Audi technician for Penske Automotive Group where she is responsible for inspecting vehicles and performing various repairs. For Rachael, every day is a learning experience. With her passion and dedication, she has been able to make an impression about what it means to be a woman technician. Being able to help others and contributing to someone else’s success, has been one of her proudest professional achievements. What is the best career advice she ever received? “Be the smartest person in the room, and if you can’t be the smartest person in the room, know the smartest person in the room.”

When asked who has had the biggest influence on her career, three people come to mind: Michal Gollobitz, Mark Friends and Justin Vail. “Michal was my trainer and I learned a lot from him. Mark and Justin are technicians I worked with who have been around a lot longer than I have. They were both great leaders to work with and learn from.” Rachael’s advice to women considering a career in the auto industry: “It’s a great industry to work in. Working in automotive is very challenging but very rewarding. Your hard work will always pay off, in one way or another.”

In her spare time, Rachael enjoys exploring and discovering new areas of Arizona with her wife. Rachael sees a future for herself in the automotive industry but maintains an open mind to the different possibilities that the industry has to offer. “Since I started I have gradually noticed more and more women at all levels of the industry. I think everyone in every industry is ready for more women involvement.”
