Women in Automotive 2018

Penske Automotive Group is proud to have female leaders at every level of the organization. From Service Advisors and Sales Managers to General Managers and Fixed Operations Directors, the retail automotive industry offers women an exciting place to forge a career. Beyond the numbers, this is about unleashing the power of our people and utilizing their unique talents, experiences, and backgrounds to create an engaging work environment and world-class operation. Every Wednesday for the next three weeks, we will feature a female leader from the Penske organization who is empowering women in the automotive industry and paving the road for the next generation of female leaders. From their earliest interest in the industry to their proudest moments, you’ll learn how these women got their start, who influenced them the most, and how they are helping change the face of the industry in positive ways. Check back next week as we add another Featured Female Leader to the series.

Featured Female Leader: Julie Andresen – Fixed Operations Director

“You’ll never notice the years flying by when you love what you do”

Julie Andresen has worked in the automotive industry for more than 16 years and currently serves as a Fixed Operations Director. Julie started her automotive career as a part-time employee in the loaner vehicle department and says the fast-paced environment and constant change is what initially drew her in. “Every day there is a new challenge to overcome, new products to figure out, and new processes to create,” she says. Julie has had several proud moments throughout her career. Her most memorable one is being nominated for, and graduating from, the Penske NADA Academy in 2017. Julie has had several big influencers throughout her career and feels extremely fortunate to work with some “incredibly talented people”. “I have been taught by many within our company that we make each other better – and I try to live that every day with my team.” Julie advises young woman considering a career in the automotive industry to “not let the fact that this is a male-dominated industry dissuade you. Your success will be driven by your own performance, positivity and teamwork.” In the next five years, Julie hopes to be leading a team to record-breaking achievements as General Manager in a Penske store. “When I started in the automotive industry there were not many women in the service department or management roles. Now, in this market, I am proud to say women represent 40% of our service department teams in the San Diego/Escondido area. I have been very fortunate in terms of the acceptance and opportunity this organization has given me and I am grateful to my longtime colleagues for their trust and acceptance through my climb.”
