The 2012 Hyundai Azera debuts last month at the LA Auto Show. Watch the video to get a glimpse of the Hyundai Azera’s features.Hyundai released a teaser preview last month, which showed off highlights of the Azera, including the following features: HID headlights with LED accents, chrome-tipped dual exhaust, LED taillights, a 7-in touchscreen for navigation, and a panoramic sunroof. The video also highlights the fluidic sculpture design, which permeates Hyundai’s styling.

The Azera has a spacious interior with leather seating. Under the hood, it comes with a 3.3L V6 engine with 293-hp and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. It has a six speed automatic transmission and gets 20mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and 23mpg combined. Standard features include 18-inch wheels and nine airbags. The Azera is expected to start at $32,000, although no official announcement has been made.

This is the Azera’s first unveiling in America. It has previously appeared around the world as the Grandeur. Apparently the designers took inspiration from flight elements when designing the front grill and headlights, which have a streamlined, wing-like look. On the inside, the Azera comes with SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.

The LA Auto Show was November 18th to November 27th, right through Thanksgiving, but held two press days November 16 and 17. When the LA Auto Show first started in 1907, it showed off 99 vehicles at Morley’s Skating Rink.

Hyundai i40 Gets Golden Award at Euro Car Body Conference

no thumb

The Hyundai i40, cousin of the US Hyundai Sonata, took home the Golden Award at the Euro Car Body Conference in Germany. This is the “highest accolade in the industry.” The i40 beat out the Audi A6 (second place) and the Mercedes B-Class (third place).

“Winning the EuroCarBody Golden Award demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest levels of safety for Hyundai customers,” says Senior Vice President and COO Allan Rushforth. “The i40 was recently awarded a maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test, and this latest award is further independent evidence that our technology is market-leading. We will continue our efforts for ever-better technology to protect passengers and improve all aspects of vehicle performance.”

The i40 was released on the UK in early 2011, starting at £17,395 (that’s $27,971 for those of us across the pond). For those in the UK, there are three trim levels: active, style, and premium. Buyers also get a choice between two engines, three power outputs, and manual or automatic.

In the United States, you’ll recognize the i40 as the Hyundai Sonata. The cars share the same platform. In the US, the Sonata is in its sixth generation, which just came out in 2011. The sixth-generation Sonata has a direct injection, 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, gets better fuel economy, and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission.
