A very special version of the Lexus LS 600h L hybrid usually seen at Lexus of Chandler, Scottsdale Lexus, Lexus San Diego, Lexus of Bridgewater, Lexus of Edison, Lexus of Warwick and Lexus Milton Keynes has been selected by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco for his wedding tomorrow.
The Penske Lexus team is very excited that Lexus has built a hybrid fit for a prince. For tomorrows wedding of South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock to Prince Albert of Monaco, Lexus has created a custom version of its LS600h L luxury hybrid. It took over 2000 hours to complete.
When it comes to royal wedding transportation Disney’s Cinderella crystal pumpkin coach set the high bar for translucent transportation. Until now. The Lexus LS 600h L Landaulet includes one very distinct feature — a one-piece transparent polycarbonate roof. The 8- millimeter thick, 26-kilogram roof is crafted out of a single piece of polycarbonate that is held in place with no pillars. The design allows the royal couple to have an unobstructed view during the tour.
The midnight blue sedan was converted by Carat Duchatelet — a Belgian coachbuilder known for its work for royalty and other people who can afford these sorts of things — in conjunction with an anonymous French manufacturer of jet fighter canopies.
The brand of vehicle being used for the wedding is not much of a surprise, as Lexus is the official automobile supplier to Prince Albert, a well-known environmental activist. And, yes, people of his ilk have official automobile suppliers.
“Lexus is very proud to present this exceptional full hybrid vehicle to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince of Monaco’, said Andy Pfeiffenberger, Vice President of Lexus Europe. ‘Our commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility at Lexus matches well with His Serene Highness’ keen interest in promoting sustainable development and environmental protection.” Source: Lexus
If all goes to plan, the LS 600h L will ferry the newlyweds from their ceremony at the royal palace to the Sainte-Devote Church in all-electric mode. If not, it’s a hybrid. They’ll make it.
After the not very long journey, the car will be put on display in the principality’s oceanographic museum, where visitors will be able to view it suspended in a state of zero-emissions mode. At least until the new bride and groom feel like taking it out for another spin.
While the price tag of the customized royal Lexus may never be known, it is the type of project that requires a royal coffer. There are a handful of Penske Lexus hybrids that can provide luxurious thrills without breaking the bank, like the Lexus HS 250h with the latest green technology. Similar to the LS 600h L, the HS 250h utilizes a continuously variable transmission that helps boost the HS 250h up to 35 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
Penske Lexus’s 7 U.S. dealership locations congratulate the couple on their royal wedding!
